Drum Circle/West African Djembe
The community of circle drumming is reaching our culture due to the way it captures the essence of the body’s rhythm. Drum circles are a valuable way to connect with others. Sessions will develop basic strokes, improve a sense of rhythm, expand your understanding of meter and gain ensemble playing experience. Students will learn the towe, bass and slap stroke, incorporating them into West African compositions studied in class. These outward musical expressions are sure to lower your blood pressure!
The drum circle meets for 1 hour on Thursdays 7:00PM - 8:00PM from October 2 - November 20.
Participants must bring their own Djembe drum and have a basic understanding of beat, division and sub-division.
