Learn to play Cello
Music Academy South offers individual instruction for cello players at the beginner level. Both Suzuki and traditional methods are taught. Students of all ages are welcome for individual instruction.
Beginners will learn the parts of the cello, how to care for their instrument, tighten and apply rosin to the bow, correct playing posture, how to hold the bow, and how to tune their cello. The beginning student will start by learning to play open strings, getting a feel for producing good tone before advancing on to learning sight-reading, scales, arpeggios, plus playing techniques including vibrato, staccato, and more.
