Learn to play Viola
Music Academy South offers individual instruction for viola players at any skill level. Both Suzuki and traditional methods are taught. Students of all ages are welcome for individual tuition.
Beginners will learn the parts of the viola, how to care for their instrument, change strings, tighten and apply rosin to the bow, correct playing posture, how to hold the bow, and how to tune their viola. The beginning student will start by learning to play open strings, getting a feel for producing good tone before advancing on to learning sight-reading, scales, arpeggios, plus playing techniques including vibrato, staccato, glissando, and more.

Kevin Yen
Kevin Yen holds his Bachelor's degree of Music in Violin Performance from Pennsylvania State University. He also holds a Master's degree of Music in Performance with Suzuki Pedagogy emphasis from East Carolina University. Mr. Yen taught in Greenville, NC while completing his studies at East Carolina University gaining broad experience through group and private instruction. He was a member of the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra and currently performs with the Beyond String Quartet. Mr. Yen is in great demand as a teacher and performer throughout the triangle area.
