Individual Lessons
Weekly individual lessons are offered for all ages and abilities, from the hobbyist to the serious
musician. We suggest starting your student with a 30-minute lesson. For the intermediate
and advanced level students, we may suggest a 45-minute or 60-minute lesson. Weekly lesson
times are scheduled at the time of registration. Individual instruction is
available for: Voice, Piano, Guitar, Bass, Violin, Viola, Flute, Trumpet,
Trombone, French Horn, Clarinet, Saxophone, and Percussion.
Group Lessons
Group Lessons are available for Piano & Guitar. Young beginners are encouraged to study in a group
setting at first, although this is not required. Students experience a fun
introduction to piano and guitar basics in the classroom format, learning the basic
fundamentals of keyboard musicianship through games, activities and interative learning.
Group classes occur throughout the week and enjoy a relatively customized schedule. Group
lessons are $78.00 per month for a 45-minute lesson each week and are arranged according
to the age and cognitive development of the student. These groups do not deviate in age
by more than 2 years. Our group piano and guitar lessons have a maximum of 6 students in each class.
Traditional and Suzuki Violin
Suzuki violin pedagogy develops the technical and musical skills needed to play violin through aural
study. This traditional Asian approach brings an engaging duality of musical memory and
instrumental study to the young musician. These lessons are offered for all ages and
ability. Beginner students usually start off with 30-minute lessons. Our advanced students
may take a more traditional approach to violin study in a 45- or 60- minute lesson.
Parents may be asked to join their child (ages 4-10) for each lesson.
Performance
We believe that music is to be heard and enjoyed by others! We encourage our students to share their
muscial development with their friends and family. Music Academy South offers two
seasonal recitals each year, Fall and Spring. In addition, we also offer Coffee Houses and
Christmas Teas giving students the chance to come together in a relaxed setting to perform
for one another. Other opportunities include community performances throughout the year at
malls and retirement homes, Meet in the Street and the Lighting of Wake Forest,
musicals and workshops. Beginner and competitive piano auditions are available for
the ambitious students.
